The Renal Lithotripsy Specialist Certification Program of the American Lithotripsy Society is a voluntary certification program which was established in 1990 to provide allied health professionals with the opportunity to become certified in renal lithotripsy within the context of a universally-determined set of experiential criteria.

The certification examination is designed to demonstrate the candidate's knowledge and understanding of:

a) The structure and function of the renal system;

b) The etiology of renal stone disease;

c) Alternative treatment modalities of urinary stone disease;

d) Types of lithotripsy;

e) Basic knowledge of extracorporeal lithotripsy; and

f) Patient application of extracorporeal lithotripsy.

CRLS Program Examination

ALS is pleased to announce the Spring 2004 offering of the Certified Renal Lithotripsy Specialist designation [CRLS] examination. The test will be conducted on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, California. This examination will occur during the 18th Annual Meeting program of the Society
